He had to be respected before it was too late! In an attempt to save the planet from global warming, scientists have provoked a new, much larger catastrophe. Researchers have discovered a species of microorganisms called "Serenums" ("Serenum Egestas" lat. Sunbeam). Their amazing ability to survive in extremely high temperatures by absorbing hydrogen gave scientists the following idea: to send a capsule filled with Serenums to the Sun in order to reduce the influence of solar radiation on Earth. After the Space Committee approved the mission, the ill-fated capsule was brought to the surface of the sun.

The plan worked, but not at all in the way the scientists expected. Serenums not only adapted to life on the Sun, but began to multiply and intensively absorb hydrogen, which provoked the rapid extinction of the Sun. It seemed people were doomed. But scientists continued experiments on the Serenums and discovered another unique property of microorganisms. By absorbing hydrogen in large quantities, the Serenums emit the luminous gas Neon, which has the properties of solar energy.

The discovery gave people hope - a new source of energy will help humanity to survive. Scientists built a high-temperature-resistant cargo spacecraft that is able to collect neon from the surface of the Sun using a system of pumps. After that, the scientists transported the depleting reserves of gas from the star to Earth. Since then, only Neon has sustained life on the planet.

The tranquil existence of mankind was disturbed by a new, unforeseen catastrophe - an explosion in the Neon storage. The unstable gas caused an unprecedented blast wave and quickly spread over the surface of the Earth, thereby making irreversible changes in the DNA structure of all living things. People were no exception. The catastrophe divided the population of the Earth into four camps.

The first group included military and scientists who were able to take refuge in a system of underground bunkers. They were the first to know about the gas leak and were able to evacuate before open contact with Neon. From the very first day, they have been looking for a way to neutralize the effect of the gas and clear the surface of the Earth from radiation. At the same time, the same neon gas used as fuel for electric generators helps them survive underground.

Those who did not know about the gas leak and remained on the surface of the Earth had bad luck: their bodies began to gradually deteriorate. Then they began to replace parts of their bodies with high-tech prostheses. They even learned to digitalize consciousness by loading it into chips and implanting it into the brain. Such people are indistinguishable from robots: their consciousness works at the speed of a computer, and they almost feel nothing. There is only one natural need left – to survive. From now on, their survival depends on recharging their implants, and for this they need the well-known fuel for the inhabitants of the new Earth - Neon.

But not all people who remained on the surface were doomed to live in the body of a robot. Those who were in a humid climate were a little more fortunate: evolution helped. They became hydrobionts, marine inhabitants. Their bodies adapted to new conditions: the skin changed color, the eyes grew, gills and webbing between the fingers appeared, and special antennas grew on the head, which were sensitive to temperature changes. Their habitat became cool reservoirs, at the bottom of which they built whole gardens. There, hydrobionts used the energy of Neon to grow plants that they feed on.

But there were also those who decided to leave the Earth. They built spaceships and went into space. Who knows, maybe someday they will return to their home planet.

Since then, the struggle has divided the inhabitants of the Earth. Humans, androids, hydrobionts - each of them seeks to take possession of a precious resource. The war for Neon has begun…

Garit

Garit has always been an outstanding scientist. While still a graduate student, he discovered at least a dozen previously unknown microorganisms. Therefore, no one was surprised when exactly Garit, already a doctor of biological sciences, discovered Serenums in one of the millennial glaciers in the east of Antarctica during a research expedition.

After delivering the samples to the laboratory, the scientist began to conduct experiments on the Serenums and soon discovered their amazing ability: by absorbing hydrogen, they were able to live in extreme environments. Then Dr. Garit came up with an ingenious, as he thought, idea - to send capsules filled with Serenums to the Sun in order to reduce the effect of sunlight on the Earth's surface and slow global warming. Thanks to his impeccable reputation as a scientist, the Space Committee quickly approved the mission, and soon the cargo was delivered to the surface of the incandescent star.

Climate change became noticeable after only six months. As Dr. Garit expected, the increase in average surface temperature on Earth slowed significantly. What the genius scientist did not expect was the rate at which the Serenums multiplied and absorbed hydrogen. From day to day they were absorbing more and more hydrogen, and the sun was getting dimmer. Realizing that the experiment turned into disaster, Dr. Garit promised to make amends. The biologist, together with a group of scientists, took refuge in an underground laboratory and began to look for ways to save the Sun, and the whole of humanity joined them.

Avina

Avina always loved the underwater world. So when her parents talked about moving to Hawaii, she was overjoyed. Ever since her father first brought Avina to diving classes, living by the ocean and exploring its hidden depths with scuba diving had been her dream since childhood.

At first, after the move, everything was fine: Avina's family settled in a cozy one-story house almost by the water. Father designed a local hotel in his office, mother looked after her younger brother, and Avina herself spent her days in the endless ocean, studying flora and fauna.

But one day, when Avina returned home after another dive, instead of her mother, she was greeted only by silence. At first, Avina did not attach much importance to the fact that no one was at home, but the unlocked door and the car keys left on the nightstand instilled fear for the family.

When Avina went out into the street, she was immediately dumbfounded: glowing gas was spreading around, and humanoid monsters were running out of neighboring houses!

Not noticing the girl frightened to death, they rushed into the ocean and disappeared into the dark abyss. Only the sudden pain in her arms brought Avina to her senses. The girl looked down and was horrified - her hands turned green, and webbing appeared between her fingers!

As if instinctively, the legs carried Avina straight into the ocean, where her amazing transformation into a hydrobiont ended. The body was covered with scales, gills grew, and bizarre antennae appeared on the head. On that day, Avina lost her family, but found a new one, joining a group of people with the same fate. Since then, Avina has been crosses the ocean along with the sea inhabitants, and only sometimes come out of the water in the hope of finding relatives.

Oddi

Looking at Oddi, you can't say that he was once a promising young athlete who dreamed of carrying the torch at the Olympic Games. Previously, he trained hard every day. The proverb: “Movement is life” became Oddi's credo in life. Therefore, when an athlete broke his leg at one of the races, he did not despair. As soon as the bones healed, Oddi began to train even harder and since then took only prizes. But suddenly, along with the victories, unexpected fatigue appeared, but he tried not to pay attention to it, because the cherished dream was so close.

In the end, his efforts were not in vain: the stubborn runner was noticed by representatives of the Olympic Committee. They invited Oddi to become a torchbearer in the upcoming games. Ironically, the happiest day in Oddi's life was the most tragic. When he ascended Mount Olympus to light the sacred torch, he felt such fatigue, as if he had already run a whole relay race: his muscles were sore, he was out of breath and all in a sweat. As a result, Oddi took only a few steps with a torch in his hands and immediately lost consciousness and collapsed to the ground.

Oddi regained consciousness only in the hospital. In the ward, he first heard about the rapid spread of neon gas across the planet and considered it a stupid joke. But when the doctor said about muscle tissue breakdown in the athlete's legs and that soon he would not be able to stand on his own feet, Oddi realized the horror of what was happening. He will never be able to run again. He will not be able to feel the headwind on his face. He will not be able to feel the ground under his feet.

Gradually, not a trace remained of the athlete's organic body: every part of the body was replaced with high-tech prostheses. Oddi does not age, his body does not wear out, and leg prostheses allow him to run many times faster than an ordinary person. But from now on it didn't matter. Running no longer brought Oddi joy, because he completely lost the ability to feel. Seeing no reason to continue his existence, Oddi went to the icy desert, climbed the highest mountain, entered hibernation mode and fell asleep forever.

A few years later, a cargo ship landed in the desert. The crew noticed the android while approaching the desert. The crew members, led by Spencer, brought Oddi to the ship and awakened him from sleep, after which they told the android their plan to save humanity. If Oddi had had emotions, he would likely have been happy with the plan, but instead he calculated the likelihood of the campaign's success and announced that without him, the chances of success are extremely slim. Spencer was glad of any help, so he happily accepted Oddi into the team. On that day, the android regained the meaning of existence and became a little less lonely.

Spencer

Spencer was an ordinary aircraft mechanic at one of the largest spaceports on Earth. He never complained about work, on the contrary, he got genuine pleasure from digging in complex mechanisms. And yet Spencer kept thinking of holding not a wrench in his hands, but the steering wheel of a spaceship. So he decided to act.

Spencer enrolled in a space pilot school and, after several years of training, successfully graduated from it. The newly minted pilot had already dreamed of flying on space fighters, but instead, Spencer was only entrusted with transporting cargo from Earth to the space station. Although the pilot was upset, he did not show it. Yet a cargo spaceship is also a spaceship.

However, one day Spencer was unexpectedly given a very curious cargo and the delivery route was new. He was instructed to deliver a capsule with microorganisms to the Sun to reduce the effect of solar radiation on the Earth's atmosphere. The new mission extremely alarmed the pilot, but Spencer valued his work so much that he complied with the order unquestioningly. The Serenums were brought into the atmosphere of a giant star, and the fate of humanity was sealed.

When the sun went out, Spencer only blamed himself. He blamed himself for not daring to violate the order and with his own hands doomed his home planet to extinction. After what he had done, he could not bring himself to return to Earth and decided to stay at the space station with other astronauts. Then he began his observation of changes on the surface of the Sun in the hope of finding a way to turn things around.

Heroes introduction

The first, with whom fate brought Spencer, was Dr. Garit. After the discovery of new properties of the Serenums, capable of saving the Earth, the scientist contacted the space station to share important news. Learning that there is a chance to save his home planet, Spencer decided to make amends and help the scientist.

Without a minute to lose, the pilot undocked his spacecraft from the station and went back to his home planet. When he entered the Earth's atmosphere, one of the engines flamed out, so Spencer had to make an emergency landing in the neon desert. As luck would have it, Spencer landed directly above Garit's underground laboratory. It saved his life. Garit noticed the ship as it approached, and the rescue team was already ready.

After finally leaving the spacecraft, Spencer told Garit about his involvement in the catastrophe on the Sun and about his desire to help save the planet. Garit thanked the brave pilot for his courage and asked not to reproach himself. Garit also did not hide the fact that the mission was launched at the behest of him. "Therefore, you have to blame me, and certainly not yourself," he said. Spencer was ready to tear the scientist to pieces, but the chance to save the Earth stopped him. Hanging on to this vague hope, Spencer agreed and has since worked with Dr. Garit.

Avina joined the team by accident. She was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. The sea maiden collected seashells for jewelry on the seashore near the shelter of friends. A kind of meditation was interrupted by the furious screams of bloodthirsty coelacanths that surrounded Avina. Although the hydrobiome girl could stand up for herself in battle, but still the strength was unequal.

Fortunately, a ship flew over the coast. Dr.Garit was on board and Spencer was at the helm. From a height they noticed a girl in trouble and immediately rushed to her aid. In that battle, Avina won not only the coelacanth, accurately throwing a spear into their hearts, but also won the hearths of her rescuers - the skills of the hydrobiome impressed both of them.

While bandaging the wounds received in the battle, Spencer shared with Avina a plan to save the Earth. When she learned that it was still possible to turn back time, a faint gleam of hope lit up in her eyes. She offered her help without hesitation. The decision was unanimous, and Avina joined the ship as a member of the crew.

The meeting with Oddi was no less strange than the hermit android itself. The newly minted world rescue team traveled deep into the icy desert to collect fresh samples of the frozen Serenums in the ice. The landing was not an easy one: the whole ground was strewn with ice thorns, but nevertheless the skillful pilot Spencer found the right place. It seemed that all the problems were over. But as soon as the crew left the ship, the ice cracked under the ship, and a dark abyss took the ship deep into the earth. After they reached the ship, Spencer discovered that one of the spikes had pierced the fuel tank and the fuel had leaked out.

During that time Avina also discovered something very strange. Someone, to be more precise. Behind the ice wall, as if behind a glass showcase, an android was sitting motionless. Avina called Spencer for help, and he rescued the android from captivity and, together with Garit, carried him aboard the ship.

A few hours later, the android woke up, looked around and asked why he was disturbed. Avina told how they found and saved him. To this story, the android replied with a question: “Saved? You cannot save someone who is not in danger. ” The android's answer threw Avina into confusion. He recognized the misunderstanding on her face and told the story of how he decided to go into the icy desert and wait until the world changes. Then the girl asked a counter question: "Why do you need to wait for changes if you can create them yourself?" The hermit found Avina's question interesting, noting to himself that he did not think about it that way.

Garit followed Avina's logic and broke into the conversation. He knew that instead of blood, neon flows inside every android, which can be used as fuel for the ship. Garit suggested that the hermit begin to change the world by helping those in need. After all, if the android does not care where to sit without moving - inside an ice block or on a ship, then why not give the neon to them? The android found the doctor's argument logical and agreed.

Fortunately, the stock of neon in the android's body was enough to reach the laboratory safely. Avina was the first to jump out of the ship and a moment later returned with a capsule filled with neon. Dr. Garit refueled the android's body, and he instantly came out of hibernation. Avina, who was hanging over the android, immediately asked: “Well, have you felt any changes? ” “Yes,” the android replied, and it put a smile on the face of the young girl. “By the way, what's your name?” Avina asked. “My name is Oddi,” the android replied.
